2023 事工報告

  1. The goals of the ministry group for the Year 2023

    • Equip all current Sunday School teachers so that they can pass on the bible teachings to brothers and sisters.

    • Recruit more teachers so that more classes (addressing different needs of b/s) can be offered.

    • Cultivate a bible-learning atmosphere at the congregational level – encourage more members taking Sunday School classes

  2. The highlights of the activities for achieving the goals

    • The early Sunday Worship at 9:30 AM was resumed in September in CSC. In order to meet the needs of those who attend this early morning Service, we have also resumed another Adult Sunday Class at 11:15 AM.

    • Continue to work with International School of Christian Education (ISCE) and invited individual Pastors and scholars to hold different seminars, by encouraging and sponsoring our SS teachers to attend suitable training classes.

    • Adult Sunday School courses offered this year: Book of Isaiah chapters 1-39 in the months of January to March, Book of Isaiah chapters 40 – 66 in the months of April to June. Then in the months of September to December of the year, the 2 Adult classes learned the book of Leviticus.

    • To give our learners more diverse choices, a new adult class was started in September. This class learned the book of Judges in the months of September to December. It is planned that topical lessons will be offered next term.

    • Other Sunday School classes: Young Adults class: the book of I Timothy in January to March, ‘Learning the wisdom of life from the book of Ecclesiastes’ for the months of April to June, and ‘How God’s guidance leads our lives’ in the months of September to December.

    • Summer course: ’10-Steps Learning’ on the book of Proverbs chapters 1-4 taught by Rev. Stephen Lam.

    • A new class was started in order to meet the needs of those who might not have been a believer for a longtime, and for those who are not believers yet. The class ‘Seeking the Truth – Building up our Blessings’ was offered January to March and again in the months of September to December.

    • Another new class was started in order to meet the needs of those newly converted brothers and sisters. This class is called ‘Spiritual Growth – Building Up Our Beliefs’. This class was offered in the months of April to June and again, in September to December.

    • Our regular Evangelism classes (two classes) were also offered to those who like to learn more about the Gospel.

    • Evening classes: A class on ‘Biblical Culture and Geography’ by Pastor Charmaine Chan was held online in the month of February.  In October we worked with Alliance Bible Seminary Canada and offered a class on the ‘Study of Paul based on the books of II Corinthians’ by Professor WH Cheung.

    • A new class using the ‘flipped classroom’ model using FaithLife materials was offered in October, taught by Deacon KH Leung and Pastor Brian.

  3. The results and some forward looking sharing

    • Since September, all Sunday School classes are being held in-person.

    • With the resumption of Sunday School classes at different time slots and more different varieties of classes being offered to new believers and seekers, more teachers are needed. We thank the Lord for providing us with some young potential teachers and assistants. They are taking up some of these classes and are able to teach God’s Word to younger and different groups of learners.

    • Teaching Ministry is now responsible for the Church Library. However, due to a lack of human resources, some of our plans to promote its usage, and renew/upgrade the Church library system have not been implemented.

    • We are thankful that many brothers and sisters have been faithful in teaching God’s Word as Sunday School teachers and have been faithfully doing so for many years.

    • In the new year, we are planning to implement a new learning model using the ‘flipped classroom’ concept which is much interactive and encourages active learning and participation. This will be offered as an online evening course and again, hoping to make it more easily accessible for brothers and sisters.

    • Looking forward, we continue to seek our Lord’s provision for new teaching resources, in terms of teachers, assistants and teaching materials. As younger and newer brothers and sisters are coming to our Church and getting baptized, the challenges and needs are great and different. We need to be creative and faithful as we plan and implement new courses to nurture the younger flocks, both in age, and in spiritually.  May our Lord help us!

    • The Ministry Group has been offering a diversified and yet biblical classes over the year. We love to see more brothers and sisters demonstrating their zeal for learning God’s Word by joining our classes. Let’s pray that we all will grow to know more about Christ, and live out His example by thirsting for His Word all the time of our lives.
